Football: Grooms leading Director of Football Ops Vote
Ohio Assistant Athletic Director for Football Operations Jason Grooms was recently named a finalist for Director of Football Operations of the Year by FootballScoop.com.
Grooms is currently leading the vote with 50.6 percent off all votes. Cincinnati's John Widecan is in second with 45.2 percent of the vote and TCU's Mike Sinquefield brings up the rear with just 4.3 percent of the vote.
According to the website, finalists were selected from nominations from coaches, athletic directors and other athletic department personnel.
The final decision will be made by a panel of coaches and previous recipients. The fan vote will be considered, but will not make the final decision.
Voting for the award will end Tuesday, Dec. 13.
Grooms is a 2001 graduate of Ohio, and is in his seventh year as Director of Football Operations. He is the only person to ever hold the position at Ohio.
His responsibilities include setting team travel arraignments, managing the team budget, scheduling NFL scouts visits and the annual pro day at Ohio.
Past award winners are West Virginia's Mike Kerin and and Temple's Tom Deahn.
