Men's Basketball: Green joins Bobcats for 2012-2013 season
Ohio men's basketball has already made a splash in the 2012-2013 season without playing a single game.
Ohio Athletics announced Saturday that forward Kadeem Green, a 6-foot-8 210-pound transfer from Missouri, will join the program. Green will take classes at Ohio University during Spring Quarter.
Ohio coach John Groce said Green is a player who can make an immediate impact.
“Kadeem is a long, athletic post player that fits into our system very well and we are excited to have him join our family,” Groce said. “His versatility on both ends of the court will be an extraordinary asset for this team. Having followed him since high school, we are very familiar with ability and progression. He is also an exemplary student-athlete, going above and beyond in the classroom.”
Green averaged three points and three rebounds while shooting 71 percent from the floor during his time at Missouri. He redshirted the 2010-2011 season because he was rehabbing a torn Achilles that he suffered during his senior year at United Faith Christian Academy.
Green helped lead his high school to back-to-back North Carolina state championships.
Before his injury, Green averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds per game and was an all-conference nominee.
He will be able to play at the start of 2013 because he decided to transfer before playing in any games in 2012.
