What’s a law-abiding, sensible citizen to do when that irresistible thrill-seeking urge hits? Athens doesn’t have skydiving or bungee jumping facilities handy. The rock-climbing wall at Ping, while incredibly exciting, just isn’t doing it. However, Athens does offer just the type of heart-racing opportunity that makes memories for those students who are looking for adventure — jaywalking. There’s no feeling quite like that of knowing you made it across the street without being tackled by a vigilante cop. Of course, if you’re looking for a thrill of a different type, don’t look both ways before hustling across Court Street against the light. —Rebecca McKinsey
SKYLINE CHILI
Being an East-coaster, I’d never heard of Skyline Chili before last week. But a spring break road trip through Cincinnati changed all that, and brought a new grub love into my life. While drive-through chili didn’t sound appetizing at first, my companions convinced me by calling Skyline “the USD (that’s Union Street Diner for you Philistines) of fast food chains.” I wasn’t disappointed. The Cheese Coneys were scrumptious, a perfect blend of hot dog, chili, onions and cheese, stuffing my arteries with 22g of delicious fat. —Cameron Dunbar
CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS
Everyone loves food. Clearly, because we all eat. So what’s better than a story of a town where its citizens procure their food from the sky? Answer: Nothing. The fanciful tale of the faraway town of Chewandswallow captures the hearts and stomachs of readers through clever narrative and entertaining illustrations. Every time I read it as a child I was immediately hungry afterward — the food looked tasty. Also, the pictures reminded me of I Spy books because I found something new in pictures every time I read it. How someone can’t love this sweet children’s book is incomprehensible to me. And I don’t know about anyone else, but I’d be pretty pumped too if a giant pancake fell on OU and classes were cancelled. —Leah Fightmaster
